Just to let you know that I’m back after a bit of a break and that I’m raring to go.
During February I decided to write a post for every weekday and that is what I did and although it was easy at first it got harder and harder as the month progressed. I did it as an experiment to try to determine what preference you my readers had for how many posts you were happy to read on a weekly basis.
There are some pros to come out of this;
- I increased my site visits by about 30%
- The number of pages viewed increased dramatically
- The number of new visits to the site increased by about 25%
- The average time each reader was on site was just over 6 minutes which is great but somewhat normal for the site
There is also one con;
- The increase in the number of visits was mainly at the beginning of the month and then tailed off towards the end of the month
So what do I read into this? Well it’s great that I’ve had an increase in readers but because it then tailed off it may not have been directly due to the number of posts but more to do with the quality. Maybe the quality of the posts at the beginning of the month were better and the subject matter was possibly more interesting – as I said earlier it’s not easy writing a different post each day.
Now of course it was half term in the second half of the month so that may have had an effect but then I would have expected the visits to increase again afterwards if that was the case.
Or maybe it’s simply that as a reader you don’t want something new every day because it becomes a chore rather than a pleasure.
The top 5 post visits were;
- Driving your motorhome in Germany
- Motorhome water tank filling problem
- How to avoid problems when taking your motorhome abroad
- A guide to driving in France
- The motorhome news category
At the end of the day I’ve decided to revert back to my original working model and post a couple of blogs a week and of course some weeks it may be more depending on what happens. I’ll obviously try to make them as interesting as I can, original, unbiased and informative and of course from my perspective I want to enjoy writing them.
I’d be grateful for your comments so please tell me what you think.
Onwards and upwards……
