Bearsted Caravan Club Site

The Caravan Club have opened a new addition to their site network near Maidstone called Bearsted and this is ideal for a channel port stopover.

The site reopened in November after an investment in excess of £2m and amongst other things the club has built a brand new reception and toilet block, play area and revamped the site pitches.  There are  now a total of 69 pitches, 39 of which are hardstanding and 15 of these are extra large to accommodate larger Motorhomes.  Click here for the site plan.

“The site gently slopes towards the open perimeter grounds of Leeds Castle.  Surrounded by fields, one of which is a horse paddock and slightly set back from the main road, this site offers an ideal peaceful stop off point en route to the ferry ports. In addition, this Site is centrally located to explore the beautiful countryside of Kent – the Garden of England – and its various tourist attractions: Leeds Castle, the historic town of Maidstone and the North Kent coastline seaside towns of Whitstable & Margate”.  Quote from the Caravan Club site information.

The site is open all year and there are two key reasons for me being very interested in this site:

  1. We’ve never been to Leeds Castle but have always wanted to so the positioning of Bearsted is ideal.
  2. Bearsted is located just off junction 8 of the M20 and is fantastically placed for a stopover on route to the channel tunnel or ferries.

I’m sure there are many other reasons to want to stay at Bearsted but those two are my favourites.

Having somewhere to stopover a few miles from the cross channel routes is great and because I always use the channel tunnel it’s perfect.  Next time I’m going over to France I’ll certainly use it.

  1. Compared to French sites UK sites seem expensive. This site is worth the money because it is modern, clean and welcoming. I imagine that quite a few foreigners use this as a first stop in England. I only hope their next site to visit steps up to the plate.

  2. Hello Philip,

Thanks for taking the time to comment and I wondered if you’d actually stayed at the site? If you have would you care to sum up your stay and give us some pointers about the site and whether you’d recommend it or not.

    Regards,
    Steve
